The Purpose of Open Door International
Haiti is one of the USA's nearest neighbors, yet while most of us live in relative comfort, the people of Haiti struggle with basic needs: food, water, clothing, and housing. Many children are denied the privileged of education that we, as Americans, take for granted. As one national disaster after another has devastated Haiti, Americans have generously donated billions of dollars; however very little of those billions ever actually benefit the common citizen of Haiti. This is especially true in areas away from the capitol city. Open Door International works closely with a group of Haitians dedicated to the betterment of their own country. We believe in listening to the voices of those who actually live there, then doing something to meet their needs. Every penny donated to ODI directly funds these projects, which are completed using only Haitian laborers.
